Last month, Kaneohe Bay Ocean Sports (KBOS) had the distinct honor of hosting over 100 guests from Just People, a Georgia-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting adults with developmental disabilities through independent living, enrichment programs, and inclusive experiences.
This extraordinary group embarked on a private charter adventure to the breathtaking Kaneohe Sandbar, a world-famous destination nestled in the heart of Oahu’s Windward Coast. For many in the group, it was their first time snorkeling, swimming in the Pacific, or even visiting Hawaii. The energy was contagious—filled with laughter, awe, and unforgettable moments.
Who Is Just People?
Founded in 1995, Just People, Inc. has created a community where adults with developmental disabilities are not only supported but empowered. Their programs go far beyond basic care—fostering independence, friendships, and self-confidence through daily activities, job support, housing, and travel opportunities. The organization is well-known for its compassionate approach and strong sense of family among participants and staff.
Travel plays a vital role in their enrichment program, offering life-changing experiences and a chance to explore the world. Their recent Hawaii trip was no exception—and KBOS was honored to be a part of it.
A Private Charter Filled with Joy
The custom private charter for Just People featured a fleet fully equipped with water toys, paddleboards, a floating lounge platform, and top-quality snorkel gear. Our experienced crew provided personalized support to ensure everyone felt safe, comfortable, and most importantly—free to have fun.
As we anchored at the Kaneohe Sandbar, you could feel the excitement in the air. Guests relaxed on the floating platform, played volleyball on the sandbar, and snorkeled with colorful tropical fish in the protected reef. For many, it was their very first time snorkeling—and their reactions said it all: wide-eyed wonder, joyful shouts, and high-fives all around.
